Joe's port is out!

Joe had his port removal surgery on Tuesday and it was a complete success. This was a surgery we were all anticipating, especially Joe. This signifies that the cancer is gone and the port is no longer needed! Thankfully, it was also a more simple surgery than the first and he did great. Dr. Thomas drew a cute baseball made of gauze pads over Joe's incision with a #1 on it...a special surprise for Joe when he woke up. Joe has been recovering very well this week with some pain at the sight but overall able to eat, sleep, and get around. He will have to take it a little easy for the next two to three weeks to make sure he doesn't damage any of his stitches and allow his vein to completely heal. The tube from the port was inserted into one of his major veins so that needs to be strong before he starts wrestling around with his brothers again.

As usual, we couldn't have done it without all the incredible help and support we received. Thanks to everyone who watched our boys, picked up medicine, sat with me at the hospital and prayed. You are all a huge blessing to us!
