Monday, April 12 - Update #1

Joe had a great morning. He didn't seem anxious and was in good spirits. He left us for the surgery prep a little after 11. The doctor just called and said the surgeon has started her work and he is doing well. They will try to call us again in another hour or so to give another status report. We all feel the peace of God through all the prayers.

We spoke with the oncologist again this morning. Her opinion is that Joe should be able to come home once the surgery part (abdominal incision, etc.) begins healing. The surgeon seemed to think he would be here several weeks. There is a little disparity from information but the oncologist is the one that follows him after he heals from the surgery. Depending upon the lab results they find, he will most likely be treated with chemotherapy and radiation beginning next week, either in patient or out patient.

All is well so far...keep praying...thanks!
