Joe has been preparing for his colonoscopy procedure since Saturday by drinking magnesium citrate oral solution. He had to drink the solution on Saturday, Sunday, and again today. In addition to drinking the solution, he can only have clear liquids today, and he cannot eat tomorrow. Joe vomiting twice on Saturday from the solution as well as spending extra time in the bathroom each night he takes it. He has been handling the prep quite well for a seven-year-old! Then, last night he felt really warm when I was putting him to bed and ended up having a fever of 103 degrees. We spoke with the Hematologist on-call last night and they felt good about Joe's blood counts that were taken just a few days ago so we did not have to goto the ER right then but to continue to monitor the fever. Well, the fever lasted into today so we made a visit up to the H/O clinic this afternoon. They took blood samples to test and to culture and gave Joe an antibiotic through his port. He continues to run a fever with no other symptoms so they are uncertain if it is a bacterial infection or a virus. No one else in our family is sick so it is hard to know if it is a virus or not. The cultures should reveal some information hopefully by tomorrow morning. The unfortunate news is that if Joe has a fever in the morning, our appointment for the colonoscopy may get rescheduled. Please pray that this fever will leave Joe's body quickly and that we can proceed with our appointment tomorrow. We are getting very anxious to get some information on the mass in Joe's colon.
Proverbs 3:5-6
Trust in the Lord with all your heart and lean not on your own understanding; in all your ways acknowledge him, and he will make your paths straight.
