Today has been really good but really busy. We have had an enormous outpouring of calls, texts, gifts, visits, prayers and emails from friends and family to show support. Thank you!
Joe looked good and felt good today with the exception of a slight fever he has. He was able to enjoy all the excitement of visitors and gifts...I think it felt like Christmas and was a lot of fun for him.
We also broke the news to him that he will be having surgery tomorrow. He seemed to take it well; however, he does not realize the extent of the procedure and that it will take time to recover. In his mind he thinks he will be ready to play in his game next Saturday and I didn't have the heart to break that news to him...we will take one day at a time and reveal the information that he needs to know.
We also got to speak to the surgeon today and the operation is scheduled for 11 am tomorrow. She said to expect everything to take 3 - 4 hours and that we would not get lab results for a few days. The waiting for results will be the hard part and feel like an eternity.
There wasn't any new infomation that we learned today. We know that so many people are praying for Joe and for our family and we can feel God's presence in this situation. Thank you for sharing this burden with us...it has lightened our load.

Joe is going to be an amazing testimony of God's healing power and amazing love. I am praying for rest and peace over you and your family. I love you Liz!!
Hi Liz! I am praying for you. I don't know if you remember but I am a nurse in the recovery room at Cooks. I called up there this morning to let them know to take extra special care of Joe when he comes through today. I know God will be with Dr Bass today as she operates and with the rest of the OR/RR staff. We have wonderful nurses in the RR and they will take great care of him.
I heard about your son's situation through my friend, Dee Bradford, who was my roomie @ Baylor our freshman year. Just know that even people you don't know are praying for Joe and your entire family! God is good and He is able!!
Oh Liz. So saddened to hear this news. Our family certainly will be praying for you all. I know that you will trust in God to strengthen you. If you need any help with the boys, please let us know. Marion can easily run down the street. We are in the Aledo phone directory.
Joe and the family have been added to our prayer list at Holy Family Catholic Church. Joe is in capable hands. Dr. Bass will provide the wisdom and clarity that is needed for surgery this morning. Praying as much as we can this morning.
I just learned of your situation through one of the VR59 wives (my husband, Trevor, is in the squadron). We will be praying for Joe. I can't imagine what you all are going through and feeling. Continue standing on God's word and declare the result you want (no cancer!) and do not waver. My mom had an ovarian mass removed last Oct at MD Anderson in Houston. The doctors were absolutely convinced it was cancer because the mass was growing very rapidly and my mom is postmenopausal (both very bad signs). Like you, I was exposed to words and terminology I never thought I'd hear and several conference calls with my mom's "team of doctors" about the plan, cancer treatment, prognosis, etc. The mass was removed with extreme urgency and then we heard words we'll never soon forget...NO cancer! NONE!!! Despite all the medical FACTS, God's TRUTH prevailed. I pray the same outcome for your sweet Joe. Rest in His Shalom.
